Hit the Links: Playing Fresh Pond
Just outside of the Atmark, on the verdant grounds of Fresh Pond Reservation, is a pleasant little nine-hole golf course that will satisfy everyone from beginners to serious players who want to keep up their game.
Fresh Pond is a public course with beautifully maintained greens and fairways and you can play for a steal (the current price tag falls in the $20 range). The course is an easy walk, but the holes themselves offer a range of challenges, including two par 5s, with plenty of sand and water play.
Some reasons to love Fresh Pond:
- Weekdays are quiet enough that play is first-come, first-served. But you can reserve tee times on weekends and holidays.
- It’s close enough, inexpensive enough and varied enough that you can play nine holes, step back inside your own cozy kitchen for lunch and play another nine.
- It offers tournament programs, a ladies league, an award-winning golf shop and an incredibly cheerful staff.
