Revel in the Beauty of Autumn at Fresh Pond
On a brisk autumn evening, there’s no better place to go for a stroll in Cambridge than Fresh Pond. Named for the reservoir that sits in the center, Fresh Pond is ringed with trees whose leaves are currently transitioning to their bright fall hues. When the sun begins to dip below the horizon, the limbs almost blaze to life.
Another prime time to check out Fresh Pond? Right after a snowfall. The fresh powder adds yet another layer of beauty to this beloved local spot. But there’s really no bad time to come to Fresh Pond. The loop around the water is a little more than two miles, the perfect length for a decent jog, a leisurely walk, or a spin on your bike. Don’t be surprised if you encounter some cute pups along the way! The park is pet-friendly, and even has a special lawn just for local dogs. Due to COVID-19, the path is currently one-way. Look for signs when you arrive to direct your walk, and bring a mask along just in case you can’t sufficiently social-distance at all times.
